Extended QTc Interval Concerns

Extended QTc Interval Concerns

There may be times when you're concerned about the QTc measurements or an incorrect software interpretation given on an ECG.

Whilst the software interpretation is there for guidance only and should always be backed up by a clinician reviewing the test, there will be occasions where you disagree with the results. This may appear as an extended QT interval on the interpretation.

All the ECG software supplied by Numed by default uses a QTc calculation method called "Bazett". There is a newer QTc calculation option called "Fridericia" that you may wish to switch over to, as this may reduce the number of false positives compared with using "Bazett" Making this change is a clinical decision for your surgery, and we advise that you review this with your clinical leads before making any adjustment to the QTc calculation.

If you do wish to make this change, please choose the correct tab below for your machine.
